Ulrika Faerch – Business Owner, Manager, Family Consultant, Keynote Speaker and Author.
I am all into relationships and feelings. What goes on between us and how much that effects our life and wellbeing is what has always caught my attention with a special and warm interest in the interaction between parents and children.
I've had a unique and amazing opportunity to closely study parent's and children’s interaction and a teachers impact through more than two decades.
I own and run a private swim school just out of Copenhagen in Denmark where we provide an arena with a relation based approach for children and parents to not only learn about swimming but also grow individually and together.
I was a competitive swimmer as young, the love of swimming started off what became a passion, teaching babies and parents. In 2007 I published my first book on baby swimming in Denmark. During 2015 I will launch my new book in Danish and English.
I live in Malmoe, Sweden with my husband and together we have two wonderful children, Auguste (1993), and Ida (1997).

"5 things making swimming the best and most important childhood activity"
Water stimulates all of our senses in a unique way and research confirms that children who are given the opportunity to swim from early childhood develop faster cognitively. If you also add the fact that the better body awareness you have, the more energy you have to learn even more. Isn't that really interesting? We explore the five reasons that make swimming such a great activity for young children. You can take them with you and take your teaching to new levels.
"Swimming - for whose sake?!"
About children’s motivation and ability to cooperate
We all want to belong and feel valued. That is also why we cooperate with the important people in our life. Children in this context are particularly vulnerable, as they can cooperate beyond their own personal best and beyond what is healthy for their mental and physical well-being. Many who teaches baby swimming states that they teach "on the terms of the child." The question is - how do we know? How does it look in practicality? Is the child an object? Are the child's rights and integrity respected? These are important questions and the answers will nourish a child's own inner motivation so they can develop and reach their full potential.
"Self Confidence and Self Esteem"
The difference between the two and how and when we put in to the right account
"Good boy!" Are you aware of the fact that rewards and praise can end up having a negative effect on a child's motivation, their will to learn and ability to dare to try things that are just a little difficult? Praise and rewards confirm the performance and can make a child grow up loosing his or her own inner motivation. We will take a brief look into the human core and some simple tips on how you in your teaching can be sure to put into the ”right account” and maintain the child's own motivation and inner drive to development.
"To turn the will and motivation on and off"
To learn about and understand human will and motivation to develop is exciting and important for you who teach. You will not only confirm what you may already know, but you will also get fuel for thought and practical tools you can use in your teaching.
"I don't just want to see happy faces!"
Swimming in an emotional universe.
We love it when children and parents are positive and happy, but beneath the surface there is a whole lot of other emotions. We'll take a look at the human basic emotions, how they look and effect us and how we can accommodate them in our teaching. By understanding more about emotions you understand yourself and others better. Easy and good tips that will make your teaching richer and more rewarding.
"Make it playful"
Tips on how to make learning friendly, exciting and fun
When the environment, programs and relationships interact and meet our human needs it makes it possible for the individual to reach full potential. When teaching and learning give challenges at the right level it gives not only our body but also our brain great exercise.
